Mentor Sentence: Looking at mentor text and discussing how to incorporate style of various sentences into personal writing. This week's focus: figurative language

**Know the words and their meanings as well as how to use the words correctly in a sentence according to their meaning** This week we will also focus on the 3 types of sentences and the ability to write compound, complex, and simple sentences and identify the difference between the three types of sentences
present - a period of time that is now occurring; to deliver a speech or idea
concise - short and gets to the pointin a few words
specific - clearly defined or identified
prank -a practical joke or trick
continuous - without an end
decline - unwillingness to consider an idea or request
pivot - to turn as if on a pin

between plants, animals, and habitats found within geographic regions
(Blue Ridge Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, Valley and Ridge, and
Appalachian Plateau) of Georgia.
a. Ask questions to differentiate between plants, animals, and habitats found within Georgia's
geographic regions.
b. Construct an explanation of how external features and adaptations
(camouflage, hibernation,migration, and mimicry) of animals allow them to survive
in their habitat.
c. Use evidence to construct an explanation of why some organisms can thrive in one habitat
and not in another.

Math:
Study multiplication facts each night.
Measurement: Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters
of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an
unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and
different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.

Homework:

Wear GREEN


Looking for something green to wear on St. Patrick's Day?  Well, save your money...

On March 16, for one day only, students will be able to buy green shamrock tattoos for $1 to support our Relay for Life team.  

Come to the Tattoo stand next to school store (during school store time) to buy a Shamrock tattoo from some of our second grade students.

Show your support for Relay AND buy something green to wear on March 16!

Ice Cream Social

Our Ice Cream Social benefiting the RBES Media Center will be Tuesday, March 13th, 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the cafeteria. Please send in any of the following toppings and materials to the RBES front office, attention Jennifer Dollander. .
Caramel, hot fudge, whipped cream, cherries, 2-liter bottles of Coke, gummies, Sour Patch Kids, M&Ms, Skittles, crushed Oreos, and any other fun toppings for ice cream.
Also, plastic spoons, paper bowls and Solo cups.

Book Fair time!!


It is time for the RBES Spring Book Fair! The dates for this exciting event are March 8,9, and 13-16. The Book Fair will be open March 8, 9 and 13-15 from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM, Tuesday night from 6-8 during the STEAM Night/Ice Cream Social, and on Friday, March 16 from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Grandparents and special friends are invited to lunch and the Book Fair any day, March 8,9 and Monday-Thursday, March 13-15. The Book Fair provides students, parents, grandparents, and special friends an excellent opportunity to purchase great books that your children will love to read. This is also a wonderful way to help support the RBES Media Center. All proceeds go directly to the RBES Media Center.
